Crystallization characteristics of amorphous metalic alloy Zr67Ni33

  • 1. Chonnam National Univ., Kwangju (Republic of Korea)

Description

Amorphous metallic alloy Zr67Ni33 was prepared by melt-spinning method and annealed at 250, 300, and 350 deg C and the ranges of annealing time 10, 60, 120, and 300 minutes repectively. Although there were variations of the area of X-ray diffraction peak, 250 and 300 deg C annealed samples showed the broad amorphous characteristic peak at 2θ =36.8 deg in the X-ray diffraction patterns. But there were several characteristic peaks to be attributed to Zr2Ni(T) crystalline in the 350 deg annealed samples. Crystallization temperatures(onset temperatures) and peak temperatures were obtained at the constant heating rates in the Diffractial Scanning Calorimetry(DSC). Crystallization temperatures of none preannealing, 250, 300, and 350 deg C for 10 minutes annealing samples were 390, 392,392, and 384 deg C at the heating rate 10 deg C/min and the activation energies by Kissinger's method were 397, 403, 394, and 280 KJ/mole respectively. The crystallization reaction orders by Ozawa's method were varied from 1.5 to 3.0 and increased by the increase of annealing time and temperature. (Author)
