Alfven current model and MHD discontinuity decay at south orientation of the interplanetary magnetic field

Description

Numerical model of the string and Alfven current model are presented. During south orientation of the interplanetary magnetic field near the reconnection points of force lines of the interplanetary and geomagnetic fields in the magnetosphere tail and in the magnetopause is shown to lead to formation of Alfven wave characterized by plasma acceleration motion. 8 refs., 6 figs
