Differential cross section of the π-p → eta0Δ0(1232) reaction at 3.3 GehV/c

Description

Recent results of measuring total and differential cross sections of the π-p → eta0Δ0 (1232) reaction at 3.3 GeV/c are presented. The experiment was carried out at the JINR 10 GeV proton synchrotorn. eta0-mesons were produced in the experiment in a 80 cm long liquid-hydrogen target and were detected by means of 90 channel Cherenkov mass-spectrometer by eta0 → γγ decays. A significant minimum observed at the forward direction in the differential cross section indicates a dominance of the helicity-flip amplitude. The experimental data are fitted by dσ/dt=A(1-gCt) exp (Ct), where g is the spin-flip/spin-nonflip amplitude ratio and t is transferred four momentum. The following values have been found for the parameters: A=44.00+-1.5 μbx(GeV/c)-2, g=7.6+-0.4, C=4.8+-0.6 (GeV/c)-2. The total cross section for the π-p → eta0Δ0(1232) reaction is in agreement, within the experimental errors, with the isotopic invariance predictions
