The study of kinetics of fast reactions of hydrogen ions in aqueous solutions by pulse radiolysis method
Description
The paper is short review of data on kinetics of fast reactions of hydrogen ions in aqueous solutions obtained by pulse radiolysis method. The rate constants of reactions of Haq+ with pH indicators, CrO42-, B(OH)4-, MoO42-, HPO42- were determined. The theoretical treatment of measured and literature values of the constants shows that in the case of anions which have a structuring action on water the calculated reaction radii are noticeably higher than Onsager's ones. This phenomenon is explained on the basis of hypothesis on multiproton transfer via hydrogen bonds system in structured microregions around the anions. The hypothesis is confirmed by temperature dependence of rate constant of reaction Haq+ + CrO42-. (author)
