Environmental consequences of the consumers choice
Creators
- 1. National Environmental Research Inst., Dept. of Policy Analysis, Roskilde (Denmark)
Description
The article analyses the relation between consumption of commodities and the degradation of the natural environment. It is illustrated, how an input-output model can estimate a 'green profile' of the commodities. The method seems useful for life cycle analysis. Moreover, the model constitutes a basis for assigning an index of environmental consequences to each commodity and offers information on relative price changes resulting from a green tax reform.
