Radiotherapy of metastatic cerebral tumors

Description

The data on direct effectiveness of radiotherapy of 70-80% patients with metastases to brain independently of radiosensitivily of the primary focus are presented. It is shown that in case of favourable prediction application of middle and microfractionation by doses up to 45-5O Gy while in case of unfavourable prediction short courses in the dose of 30 Gy for two weeks or 20 Gy in 5 days. With the purpose to decrease intracranial pressure application of corticosteroids before and in the course of radiotherapy is recommended. In case of symptomatics relapse and satisfactory primary response conducting repeated courses with more sparing regimens is possible
