Dynamics of hadron production at the confinement transition

Description
Assuming that the high-temperature phase of QCD is described by a classical condensate for the Polyakov loop, hadron production at the confining phase transition is calculable by semi-classical means. Generically, particle production exhibits strong deviations from statistical behavior on an event-by-event basis. For example, the average transverse momentum of pions exhibits dynamical fluctuations between events. We discuss the real-time evolution of the long-wavelength modes of the condensate of Polyakov Loops. Classical real-time simulations on a 643 lattice indicate an 'explosive' transition with almost sudden hadron production and small spatial homogeneity scale of the field. This may offer an explanation for the observed small Hanburry-Brown-Twiss radii at RHIC
