Description

In a previous report, the authors presented preliminary results of design studies of a dedicated medical heavy ion accelerator complex. The present report describes results of the more detailed calculations considering good emittance-acceptance matching between each accelerator. The general goals that are of foremost importance in the design are the achievement of reliability and safety. In addition, simplicity of operation is an important feature for a hospital-based facility. Therefore, the design philosophy must be reasonably conservative. The authors adopt present day established technological achievements and some new features which seem to be easily achievable. Design goals are the same as those described previously
