Description
In this paper, the peak efficiency curves of HPGe detector for Marinelli beakers were determined by the Los MCNP4C2 code of the Alamos Laboratory in three Marinelli beakers of different size. The influence of matrix density on the efficiency was also studied by simulation of the efficiency curves for different matrix materials: U-CaCO3-MgCO3 calibrated mixture with density of 1.51 g/cm3; ThO2-SiO2-Polyeste calibrated mixture with density of 1.95 g/cm3 and Ta2O5 with density of 8.20 g/cm3. The effect of K-edge absorption for matrices of Thorium and Tantalum in which there are high-Z elements of rather high contents was recorded. (author)
