Angular distribution of delta electrons studied by the reactions S->Pb at 4.6 MeV/u

Description

The angular distribution of delta electrons relative to the elastic scattered particles has been studied for the system S -> Pb at 4.6 MeV/u. In this energy range it has been found that the emission probability depends strongly on the relative angle psi between the electrons and scattered particles. Theoretical calculations predict a dipole shape of the angular distribution. From the experimental data the ratio R = P(psi1,b=const)/ P(psi2,b=const) of the emission probability at mean impact parameter b = 27 fm was extracted: R = 0.86+-0.02. This value is in good agreement with theoretical results. (orig.)
