Use of coulometry with potential scanning in analytical chemistry
- 1. AN SSSR, Moscow. Inst. Geokhimii i Analiticheskoj Khimii
Description
Electrochemical behaviour is studied of neptunium varied in the degree of oxidation on the platinum electrode in hydrochloric, nitric and sulphuric acid environments by the method of coulometry with a linear potential sweep. In all these environments neptunium can be detected with the use of a reversible Np(6)Np(5) system. A method is proposed for detecting neptunium and plutonium on a single sample in the presence of a number of impurities. It is shown that neptunium and plutonium can be detected on a single sample at the molar ratio 1:1. In nitric and hydrochloric environments it is also possible to detect neptunium on the platinum electrode with the aid of a reversible Np(4)Np(3) system
