Nuclear fusion - torn between chance and show

From previous fusion research and from the results of a deuterium/tritium JET experiment on Nov. 9, 1991 the author infers that fusion power plants are still in the very distant future. Practical problems such as costs, risk potentials, fuels, radioactive wastes, and superconducting magnet bottlenecks are briefly discussed. (HP)

Nach einer Darstellung der bisherigen Fusionsforschung und des Ergebnisses des JET-Experiments mit einem D-T Gemisch am 09.11.1991 zieht der Autor das Fazit, dass ein Fusionskraftwerk noch in weiter Zukunft liege. Er geht kurz auf die Problematik der Realisierung ein wie Kosten, Gefaehrdungspotential, Brennstoffe, aktivierter radioaktiver Abfall, Engpass bei supraleitenden Magneten usw. (HP)Additional details
