Studies of radionuclide adsorption by modified sorbents. II. Adsorption of europium(III) and americium(III) by zirconium phosphate modified by glycolic and diglycolic acids

Description

Addition of glycolic acid as a modifier does not improve the adsorption properties of zirconium phosphate with respect to trivalent actinides and rare earth elements. Addition of diglycolic acid to the reaction mixture during sorbent synthesis, on the other hand, increases the dynamic capacity of zirconium phosphate by almost an order of magnitude, and also enhances the adsorption kinetics
