A 700 keV tandem accelerator

Description

A very small tandem accelerator with 300 kV terminal voltage was constructed to obtain various technical data for the advanced design of a Lamb-shift type polarized ion source for the 12 UD Pelletron tandem accelerator. The beam transmission for hydrogenic ions was as high as 40% at terminal voltages around 300 kV with carbon foil strippers of 10 μg/cm2 thickness. (Auth.)
