Description
Relative elastic differential cross sections for electrons scattered from C2H6, C2H4, and C2H2 have been measured for angles between 3 and 130 deg and electron energies between 100 and 1000 eV. The data agree very well, for angles larger than 40 deg, with calculations in the independent atom model approximation and partial wave atomic scattering factors. The results show strong charge cloud polarization effects at small angles and low energies. At higher energies the molecular binding effects cause the cross sections to fall below the calculated results
