Production of high purity aluminas: II - Characterization

Description
This paper presents a characterization study on various samples of aluminum hidroxyde (pseudoboemite). Results of X-ray diffraction (identification, mean crystal size, degree of crystallinity); BET surface area and loss of ignition of the samples are displayed. The degree of crystallinity is found to be of great usefullness in the characterization of this kind of material. We point out the variety of products that can be obtained with the method of preparation used. (Author)

Apresenta-se um estudo de caracterizacao de varias amostras de hidroxido de aluminio (pseudoboemita). Sao mostrados resultados de difracao de raio-X (identificacao, tamanho medio de cristal, grau de cristalinidade), area superficial especifica (BET) e perda por ignicao. Da discussao dos resultados, destaca-se a importancia de incluir a avaliacao do grau de cristalinidade na caracterizacao deste tipo de material. Os resultados apresentados mostram tambem a diversidade de produtos que podem ser obtidos a partir do metodo de preparacao utilizado. (Autor)Additional details
