Process for the separation of thorium and rare earths from a fluoride concentrate containing these elements
Description
The concentrate is attacked by a solution of sodium hydroxide in a quantity of at least 1.4 times the stoichiometry and with a concentration between 1 and 40 wt%. A precipitate of thorium hydroxide and rare earth hydroxide is obtained with a solution of sodium fluoride. Th and RE are separated by acid dissolution and selective precipitation or solvent extraction

On attaque le concentre par une solution de soude dans des conditions telles que la quantite de soude utilisee soit d'au moins 1,4 fois la quantite stoechiometrique et que la concentration de la solution soit comprise entre 1 et 40% en poids. On obtient un precipite d'hydroxydes de thorium et de terres rares et une solution de fluorure de sodium.
