Sticking and growth of oppositely charged dust particles in protostellar clouds

  • 1. AN SSSR, Moscow. Fiziko-Tekhnicheskij Inst.

Description

The problem of solid grain production in a protostellar cloud is discussed. It is shown that in a protostellar cloud at different stages of its contraction, the dust particles with opposite signs of electrical charge can exist. If fast (nonthermal) electrons are present in the cloud, these dust particles coagulate rapidly, forming solid grains of the size much larger than the mean one, typical for the interstellar medium, and having an inhomogeneous chemical composition
