Temperature dependence of the quadrupole interaction of 181Ta in Hf2Pd

Description
The electric quadrupole interaction of 181Ta impurity nuclei in the intermetalic compound Hf2Pd has been investigated by time differential perturbed angular correlation (TDPAC) experiment at 77, 259, 873 and 1023 K. It is found that the temperature dependence of the quadrupole frequency Ω1 can be described by a T3/2 law. A comparison is made between the experimentally measured value of the electric field gradient, acting on the probe nucleus 181Ta at 295 K (Vsub(zz)=(1.45+-0.08)x1018V/cm2), and the ionic contribution (1-γinfinity)eqsup(lat)
