Description
Qualification of Sites for Safe Disposal of Radioactive Wastes in Clays in the North-West Region of Russia. The project presented an expert report on the suitability of Cambrian and Vendian clays to host a repository of radioactive wastes. The project investigated: - geological characteristics of Cambrian and Vendian clays in the North-West region of Russia as potential host rock for radioactive waste repositories; - migration parameters of the clays; - change in the properties of the clays under the effect of interaction with radioactive wastes; - probability of release of radioactive materials into overlying and underlying water-bearing beds.
