Detection of an infrared companion to Haro 6-10
Description
Near-IR speckle observations showed the IR source of Haro 6-10 to be double with the two components separated by 1.2 arcsecs at position angle 355 deg. At wavelengths shorter than 3.8 microns, the southern component dominates, while most of the IR radiation longward of 4 microns arises from the extremely red northern component. Both components are unresolved in north-south scans. It is suggested that they are stellar and form a young low-mass binary. The detected IR companion is probably similar to those found earlier for a few T Tau stars. 21 refs
