Description
The paper presents a model for the accumulation of energy in molecules through energy migration followed by up-conversion. It accounts for the nonrandom distribution of excited molecules, a consequence of the fact that nonresonant energy up-conversion occurs preferentially at closely spaced molecular sites. The model describes well the vibrational-energy accumulation of CO molecules embedded in argon. (author)
