The value of angio-CT for staging, observation and treatment of acute pancreatitis

Compared with ordinary CT, angio-CT in mild, moderate or servere pancreatitis provides better demonstration of parenchymatous necrosis and more accurate identification of the organ in the presence of oedema, necrosis or haemorrhage in the retroperitoneal space. Follow up observations of these changes assist in the choice of treatment, such as was not available previously. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Die Angio-CT bei akuter leichter (I), mittelschwerer (II) oder schwerster (III) Pankreatitis erlaubt im Vergleich zum Nativ-CT eine bessere Darstellung intraparenchymatoeser Nekrosezonen und eine genauere Organabgrenzung bei starker oedematoeser und/oder nekrotisch-haemorrhagischer retroperitonealer Reaktion. Durch Verlaufsbeobachtungen feststellbare Aenderungen der Befunde ergeben fuer die Wahl des therapeutischen Vorgehens verlaessliche, bisher nicht verfuegbare Entscheidungshilfen.
