EDF makes a request for the construction of a nuclear power plant at Hinkley Point

EDF (Electricite de France) has officially made a request for building a nuclear power station at Hinkley Point in Great-Britain. The commission entitled to study the demand will have 1 year to make recommendations for the British government that will have to decide. Several European energy companies (among which EDF) want to build 10 reactors in U.K. dispatched on 5 sites. EDF in partnership with the British firm Centrica proposes to build 4 EPR reactors. Important decisions concerning a guarantee on the electricity price by the government or on the financing of dismantling are awaited soon. (A.C.)
