Effect of high pressure on crystals and magnetic structures of La0.7Sr0.3CoO3 cobaltite

Description
By means of neutron diffraction one investigated into atomic and magnetic structures of La0.7Sr0.3CoO3 cobaltite under up to 4.2 GPa high pressures within 16-300 K temperature range. One derived the baric dependences of the structural parameters. The high pressure effect results in the Curie temperature drop with dTC/dP=-8.3(8) K/GPa. TC drop is determined to result from partial transition of Co3+ ions from the intermediate spin (t2g5eg1, S=1) into the low-spin (t2g6, S=0) state under pressure
Abstract (Russian)
Методом нейтронной дифракции исследована атомная и магнитная структуры кобальтита La0.7Sr0.3CoO3 при высоких давлениях до 4.2 ГПа в диапазоне температур 16-300 К. Получены барические зависимости структурных параметров. Влияние высокого давления приводит к уменьшению температуры Кюри с dTC/dP=-8.3(8) К/ГПа. Установлено, что уменьшение ТK связано с частичным переходом ионов Co3+ из промежуточного спинового (t2g5eg1, S=1) в низкоспиновое (t2g6, S=0) состояние под давлениемAdditional details
