Description

The authors present a model, in which the nuclear wavefunctions are approximated by linear combinations of the spin- and number-projected HFB-vacuum and the 2 quasiparticle excitations with respect to it. The required symmetries are restored before the diagonalisation of the Hamiltonian in the resulting nonorthogonal configuration space. This model, for which a computer code has been developed in the meantime, can be applied to various nuclear structure problems like the description of the giant multipole resonances in light deformed nuclei as well as the study of high spin states in the rare earth region and can hence be considered as a rather universal tool for nuclear structure investigations.
