Characteristics of a diode-pumped Nd:YAG laser with a modified reflective CPC

Description
We designed and constructed a diode-pumped Nd:YAG laser system using a modified reflective CPC (Compound Parabolic Concentrator) as a pump cavity. A design code based on a ray-tracing algorithm is developed to analyze the Nd:YAG laser system. The optimum reflective CPC parameters are determined from the analyses of the pump-beam distribution and total absorbed power in the laser crystal depending upon the acceptance angle and gap distance of the CPC. Experimental laser output power is compared to those obtained from the numerical calculations. (author)
