Sorption and desorption studies of60 Co and 134 Cs on some egyptian shales
Description
The sorption of 60 Co and 134 Cs was studied using samples of some egyptian shale deposits from different locations. The data obtained on the sorption and desorption of both elements on six. Different samples are summarized. X/m (meq. g-1 ) vs [c] (g/L) shows a straight line relationship of frundlish type isotherm in the studied concentrations (10-9 -10-3 M) of Cs while in case of Co it tends to approach limiting values at concentrations > 10-5 M which suggests more than one reaction mechanism. Also the Kd was found to be dependent on the physico-chemical properties of the shale used. The desorption is also related to the type of extracting solution and the nature of shale deposits. 3 fig., 3 tab
