State registry of persons exposed to irradiation as a result of the chernobyl accident: dosimetric, prognostic and epidemiologic aspects

Description

A large-scale program for the All-Union Assigned Registry was adopted by the USSR. Ministry of Health to ensure a long-term automate registration of persons, exposed to irradiation as a result of the Chernobyl accident, their children and subsequent generations, irradiation doses, assessment of the health status and its changes. The registry data base includes medicodosimetric information on 576.000 persons, of whom 227.000 are liquidators of the consequences of the accident. Radiation-epidemiological analysis helped assess the time course of somatic morbidity over the period of 1987-1989 and predict stochastic effects of radiation exposure
