UV-FEL oscillation using a helical optical klystron

  • 1. Okazaki National Research Inst., Aichi (Japan). Inst. for Molecular Science

Description

FEL oscillations on the UVSOR electron storage ring at a wavelength region from visible down to 240 nm have been operated by using an optical klystron employed helical undulators. The helical optical klystron has been constructed by considerations of gain enhancement and suppression of mirror degradation. Deduced gain from experimental data was agreed well with a calculation. In addition, it was found out mirror degradation rate with radiation from a helical mode was several ten times slower than that with a planar mode. (author)
