Description
Experimental and theoretical studies of inverse population mechanisms in the plasma jet of a helium and strontium vapour mixture are performed. A maximal inversion value was obtained for the 62 S1/2 → 52 P3/2 Sr 2 transition. Besides the three-particle electron-ion recombination, the essential role in the inverse population of a strontium ion is shown to be played by inelastic collisions with helium
