Description

We calculate a PT - odd mesonic radiative correction to the propagator of a nucleon bound in the nucleus. By applying Bethe's well-known method for the treatment of the atomic Lamb shift, we derive a new single particle nuclear potential which violates parity and time reversal invariance. The expression of this potential is UPT = -0.6 σ-vector · r-vector/r (3 gπNN(0) + gπNN(1) τ3) (-0.144 (Δf + 0.136 f'), where f(r) is the radial function of the strong nuclear potential and gπNN(0), gπNN(1) are PT - odd pion-nucleon coupling constants. The investigation of T - violating nuclear effects is expected to improve the present knowledge on these constants and on the current models of CP violation. (Author)
