Prediction of Synthesis of Solid Catalysts on the Basis of the Polyhedron Theory of Catalysis

Description

In crystalline solid catalysts (zeolites, alumina-cobalt-molybdenum, vanadium oxide, etc.), the polyhedra, when they are joined to each other, form a unit cell that is characteristic for a crystalline solid, the structure and composition of the unit cell determining the structure of the lattice of the solid. On the basis of the theory of catalysis by polyhedra, thermodynamic methods are given for the selection of a catalytically active structure of a solid; and for a two-component oxide-type catalyst, a method is given for the determination of the optimal compostion. Methods are developed for modifying the surface of solid catalysts with the aim of increasing its activity and selectivity, as well as methods for choosing an active filler for a catalyst
