On the effect of Neutron Inelastic Scattering and Source Energy on Slowing down length

  • 1. Reactor Physics and Engineering Division, Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology, Atomic Energy Research Establishment, Ganakbari, Savar, GPO box - 3787, Dhaka-1000(Bangladesh)

Description

A multi-energy group formalism developed from the P1 - transport equation has been employed to study age and slowing down length of neutrons. Diagonal transport approximation is used to reduce the problem involving anisotropic transfer between groups. The validity of this approximation as well as the suitability of the multi-energy group method has been established by comparing the calculated neutron age with the corresponding measured values. Effect of inelastic scattering on slowing down length of neutrons coming from sources of different energies has also been studied. 11 refs., 4 figs. (author)
