The mean eccentricity of the stellar orbits of a sample of stars in the solar neighbourhood chosen on the basis of metallicity
Description
The interpretation of the kinematical diagrams for different star groups of given metallicity is ambiguous. A relation as e versus [Fe/H] depends not only on the chemical and kinematical history of the Galaxy but is also strongly dependent on the observational errors of [Fe/H] and on criteria used to define the sample. Die Interpretation der kinematischen Diagramme fuer verschiedene Sterngruppen gegebener Metallizitaet ist nicht eindeutig. Eine Beziehung wie e gegen [Fe/H] ist nicht nur von der chemischen und kinematischen Geschichte der Galaxie abhaengig, sondern in hohem Mass auch von Beobachtungsfehlern bei [Fe/H] und von den bei der Definition verwendeten Kriterien.
