Niobium sputter deposition on quarter wave resonators
- 1. Accelerator and Pulse Power Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)
Description
Niobium sputter deposition on quarter wave copper R.F resonators, have been taken up in our laboratory, An ultra high vacuum system was made for this purpose. Niobium exhibits superconducting properties at liquid Helium temperature. A uniform coating of about 1.5 μm of niobium on the internal surfaces of the copper resonant cavities is desired. Power dissipation in the resonators can be greatly reduced by making the internal surfaces of the R.F cavity super conducting. (author)
