Description

The problem of the nature of photooxidation reactions sensitized by furocumarins in biological systems is considered. On the basis of kinetic analysis of photosensitized oxidation of certain substances, it is shown that the processes of photooxidation can be carried out according to the two-stage mechanism without singlet oxygen. The main role in the mechanism suggested plays photooxidated forms of furocumarins. 52 refs.; 3 figs
