Radiation crosslinking of polypropylene

  • 1. Furukawa Electric Co. Ltd., Tokyo (Japan). Central Research Lab.

Description

The radiation crosslinking of polypropylene with several kinds of polyfunctional monomers has been examined, and it has been clarified that the enhanced crosslinking may be classified into two types. In particular, the irradiation crosslinking process of polypropylene containing a polyfunctional monomer having an acryloyloxy group giving a specific gel - dose curve has been studied by infrared absorption spectrum and oxygen absorptivity measurement in comparison with the non-enhanced system.
