Description

The ITER project will build two model coils which are approximately the scale of the coils in the large-coil-project (LCP) built during the 1980s. The central solenoid model coil has a peak field strength of 13T in a 1.6m bore, and the toroidal field model coil 9.7T in a 1.4m x 2.8m bore when operated together with the EU LCP coil. The coils will be tested in facilities at Naka, Japan, and Karlsruhe, Germany, when completed in 1997. (orig.)
