Comparison of safety-relief valve model predictions with test data

Description

The analytical models developed at General Electric Company to describe the phenomena associated with safety-relief valve actuation are applied to large-scale and small-scale tests for model verification. The predictions of each model are compared with the available data to show that the particular phenomenon is accurately described by the corresponding model. It is shown that analytical predictions of pressures are generally conservative and phenomenologically correct. (auth)
