Coulomb distortion effects in electron positron pair production near threshold

Description
The cross section for electron positron pair production in non relativistic collisions of protons with heavy nuclei has been calculated. Extending previous calculations, the Coulomb distortion of electron, positron, and projectile wave functions in the target field has been taken into account. Former discrepancies between calculation and experimental results have been removed. (orig.)
