The gravitational radiation damping and the change of coordinates

Description

In the general theory of relativity, the gravitational waves having temporal and longitudinal components of polarization carry no energy and thus represent only the spurious effect of the coordinates. An expression for the radiation damping force on binary stars is obtained from the field equation by requiring that the out-going gravitational radiation should have only transverse components of polarization.
