Contamination protective device for spent fuel casks
Description
Purpose: To reduce the danger such as radiation exposure to workers by decreasing manual works, for example, mounting and detachment of jackets. Constitution: Electric conductors are provided so as to surround the outer members of a cask for spent fuels stored in a spent fuel pool, and the conductors and the outer members are connected to the cathode and the anode of a power source respectively for applying a voltage between the outer members and the conductors. In this structure, fins as the outer members for the cask are protected against contaminations by utilizing the principle, for example, of electrophoresis. (Aizawa, K.)
