Peculiarities of sintering of porous articles of metal fibres

  • 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kiev. Inst. Problem Materialovedeniya

Description

New experimental results are presented which were obtained when studying the sintering process for porous articles made of molybdenum, nickel and copper fibres. It is stated that when the temperature of fibre specimens heating is increased, the electrical resistivity drops regardless of the character of volumetric changes. It is explained by the following: in specimens of fibres, as distinct from those made of powders, there are two types of interparticle contacts: some of them (base ones) determine properties of material, others are destroyed in the process of volumetric growth. Therefore estimation of mechanical properties for fibre articles according to changes in the resistivity is not correct
