Dysmetabolism as a result of remote radiation impact on radiation affected population

  • 1. Respublikanskij nauchno-prakticheskij tsentr radiatsionnoj meditsiny i ehkologii cheloveka, Gomel' (Belarus)

Description

The character of metabolic disturbances in 1191 patients affected by the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident in 1986 (main group) has been studied. The control group had 396 patients from the so-called 'clean' areas. All the patients characteristically suffered from multifocal arteriosclerosis. The detailed clinical examination of the patients revealed that the degree of hormonal-metabolic disturbances in the main group of patients compared to the control one was better marked. The proved larger number of somatic diseases in them resulted from that hormonal-metabolic disbalance. (authors)
