Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) was first used in RSA by Eskom to show compliance by Koeberg Nuclear Power Station with licensing criteria. More widespread use of this technique has been made possible by the development of advanced computer codes and it is now used to assess the impact of design changes, plant defects and maintenance. 4 figs
