Time projection chamber for photo-production of hyperons

  • 1. Kyoto Univ., Dept. of Physics, Kyoto (Japan)

Description

We have constructed a Time Projection Chamber (TPC) for the photo-production of hadrons from nucleon and nuclei. It has a target inside the chamber to detect low energy hyperons, which have a short flight length, to measure hyperon resonances such as Λ(1405). This detector provides almost 4π coverage for charged particles and enhances the physics capabilities at LEPS, including the study of the pentaquark. The current status of the TPC project and its physics prospects are discussed. (author)
