Contrast media in radiology - X-ray and MRT imaging
Description
The contribution describes commercial contrast media, their formulas, physical effects and pharmacokinetic characteristics that decide effectiveness and tolerance. Information on handling is presented. The dependence of contrast on contrast media concentration, dose, and injection rate is discussed. The most relevant effects of contrast media on organ systems and on the total organism are presented and described with a view to their practical application. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Kontrastmittel verbessern die Effektivitaet der medizinischen Roentgen- und Magnetresonanzdiagnostik. Der Artikel beschreibt die im Handel befindlichen Kontrastmittelsubstanzen und deren Zubereitungen, die physikalische Wirkung der Kontrastmittel sowie die Pharmakokinetik, soweit sie fuer Wirkung und Vertraeglichkeit von Bedeutung ist. Es werden Hinweise fuer die Handhabung von Kontrastmitteln gegeben. Die Abhaengigkeit der Kontrastwirkung von der Kontrastmittelkonzentration, Dosis, Injektionsgeschwindigkeit wird diskutiert. Die wichtigsten Wirkungen von Kontrastmittelzubereitungen auf die einzelnen Organsysteme und den Gesamtorganismus werden aufgefuehrt und in ihrer Bedeutung fuer die Anwendung beschrieben.
