Description

This paper consists on the application of a radiometric method to the evaluation of dentifrice abrasivity in order to bring this technique in Brazil. It is a method recommended by the American Dental Association (ADA) from the USA. The precision of the abrasivity indices (RDA) was satisfactory, providing values that varied from 1.4 to 15.1%. The dentifrices analyzed presented RDA values between 33 and 88, therefore, they were within the limit value established by ADA, 250. A correlation between RDA values of raw materials and size of their particles was observed. (author)
