A versatile environmental chamber at the Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory (BSRL) is described. This facility has been used for in situ x-ray topographic studies of the structural imperfection in the solids. As an example the investigating result of the domain boundaries and their evolution with temperature in KNbO3 crystal is given
